My Personal Birth Experience at NYULMC: Birth Plan

At NYULMC we recognize that birth is a unique and momentous occasion. We at NYULMC will support your decisions about your birth. We invite you to participate in the planning of your birth. We ask you to consider your preferences and beliefs that will make your birth experience meaningful to you and your family.

Please keep in mind that birth is dynamic and unpredictable in nature.  It is important to be open and flexible in your thoughts, as circumstances can change unexpectedly. We are fully committed to your understanding and active participation in the decision process throughout the course of your labor. Our goal is to provide you with a safe and satisfying experience.

NYULMC has developed a birthing plan called "My Personal Birth Experience" for you to complete and discuss with your support person and doctor during your pregnancy. Bring your Personal Birth Experience Form to the hospital so you can discuss it with your nurse upon admission.

Lamaze International, a leader in childbirth education has used recommendations from the World Health Organization to develop Six Healthy Care Practices to support and assist women to give birth.  While no one can promise you what kind of birth experience you will have, we encourage you to explore and do your own research.  Our website and Lamaze International are good starting points( see websites below). Discuss your options with your obstetrician. Our goal is to provide you with a beautiful, safe and memorable birth experience that will last a lifetime.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask your doctor or ask a question on our facebook page at www.facebook.com/nyubaby
